The Aging Research Center (ARC), a division within the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society of the Karolinska Institutet, is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Geriatric Epidemiology.

The ARC is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, psychiatry, geriatrics), psychology (e.g., cognition, structural, functional, and molecular brain imaging), and social gerontology (e.g., sociology, public health, social epidemiology, social work). The center has around 75 employees, it has a strong focus on research with unique research resources, such as large-scale longitudinal studies and nationwide registries.

Who can apply:

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant’s main supervisor, director or equivalent.

The candidate should have the required background and the capability to work in a multidisciplinary team, to be independent and able to take initiatives as well as to find solutions proactively. The applicant must also possess good organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Geriatric Medicine or related fields.
  • Good/advanced bio-medical knowledge.
  • Work experience in data analysis and interpretation preferably in the aging research field.
  • Clinical and research experience in the field of multimorbidity.
  • Good command of statistical software (e.g., Stata, SPSS, R).
  • Experience in working with different types of epidemiological data (i.e., population-based, clinical and administrative datasets)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with researchers having quantitative and clinical backgrounds.
  • Interest in professional development in the field of epidemiology field.
